TIRANA, Oct 13 /ATA/European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said today that Albania’s EU membership before 2030 would be possible if the positive momentum among EU Member States continued.
At a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama and Ireland’s Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence, Thomas Byrne, following the 10th Albania–EU Intergovernmental Conference, Kos was asked whether the new accession rules would pave the way for Albania to join the EU before 2030.
She replied that she did not know yet, adding that she would be able to answer the question later, as the conclusion of the accession negotiations drew closer.
Kos said the momentum currently surrounding Albania’s EU accession process was rarely seen in other candidate countries, reiterating the EU’s support for Tirana’s ambition to conclude accession negotiations by the end of 2027.
