TIRANA, Oct 5 /ATA/ On the 128th day of protest against the planned investment in Zvërnec, citizens gathered again today in Skënderbej Square before marching towards the Prime Minister’s Office.

The protesters continued their march along Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, opposing the tourism project in the Zvërnec area, policies concerning protected areas and strategic investments..

Carrying banners, protesters voiced opposition to the Rama government and what they described as the “selling off” of Albania through various tourism projects.

Speaking outside the Prime Minister’s Office, activist Sidorela Vatnikaj accused MPs and ministers of failing to represent citizens’ interests and instead serving the interests of organised crim

“We are here outside the Prime Minister’s Office on the 128th day because we are calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the entire government, which has become deeply mired in crime and corruption,” Vatnikaj said.

She also referred to the protest held outside Parliament today, saying that three protesters had been taken to a police station.

“Three protesters were taken to a police station today. I call on the police to release those who took part in the protest outside Parliament,” the activist said.

Activist Ilir Xhemalaj also addressed the protest, criticising a comedy programme for the way it portrayed the demonstration.

“Today I wanted to speak about these so-called artists, who have the audacity to mock the protest. They should be ashamed. We have seen for ourselves what kind of artists they are,” Xhemalaj said.

The protesters called for the resignation of the government, while activists criticised the treatment of demonstrators and urged police to release three protesters detained earlier in the day. Activist Ilir Xhemalaj also called on young people to join the protests, which have expanded from opposition to the Zvërnec investment to broader demands over protected areas and the “Mountain Package.”
