PM Rama highlights progress on new bridge project in northern city of Shkodër

TIRANA, Oct. 3 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Saturday shared updates on the construction of the new Bahçallëk Bridge, saying the project is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve access to the northern Albania city of Shkodër.

Posting images from the construction site, Rama said the bridge is gradually taking shape and will play an important role in improving traffic flow at one of the city’s main entry points.

Work is continuing on both the new bridge and the widening of the road section between Harku i Bërdicës and Bahçallëk Bridge, as part of a broader infrastructure upgrade designed to modernize access to the city.

The project aims to improve road safety, reduce congestion and strengthen transport links between Shkodër and other parts of the country.

The new Bahçallëk Bridge forms part of a wider programme of infrastructure investments intended to enhance mobility and connectivity in northern Albania. The crossing serves as a key link between Shkodër and areas beyond the Drin and Kir rivers, playing a strategic role in traffic movement toward the country’s northern regions.
