TIRANA, Oct. 3 /ATA/ – Albania is continuing its nationwide human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme with the introduction of the 9-valent HPV vaccine, offering broader protection for both 13-year-old girls and boys in line with the National Immunisation Schedule.
Health and Social Protection Minister Klodiana Spahiu visited a health centre in Lushnjë on Saturday, where she reviewed the vaccination process and efforts to inform families about the programme.
Spahiu highlighted the importance of vaccination at an early age as a preventive measure aimed at protecting the long-term health of younger generations.
The new 9-valent vaccine broadens protection against additional HPV strains associated with cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases, strengthening the scope of disease prevention.
The programme seeks to enhance early prevention and public health protection by extending HPV vaccination coverage to both girls and boys aged 13.
“Broader protection, stronger prevention,” is the message accompanying the continued rollout of the HPV vaccination programme across Albania.
