PM Rama: New digital platform to improve transparency, hold institutions accountable

TIRANA, Sept. 29 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Tuesday that a new digital platform recently launched in Albania would improve transparency and hold government institutions accountable to citizens.

Speaking at the Euronews Summit 2026, Rama also addressed the ongoing protests outside the government headquarters, saying protests were a way for citizens to convey concerns and prompt institutions to reflect.

He said mass protests could not be attributed to a single issue and that private exchanges with protesters had helped the government better understand their concerns.

Rama said the intelligent transparency platform would publish documents and data on government projects, allowing citizens to verify information and compare it with material from other sources.

“The platform will start by displaying all the documents, all the processes and every fact about this project, so people can check the facts against what they hear and read on other digital platforms,” he said.

The platform would also allow citizens to submit individual or collective requests to government institutions and track how they are handled, Rama said.

“It will hold accountable everyone in government who does not respond to people on time,” he said.

Rama said the platform was among measures being developed in response to concerns raised by protesters, adding that the government was focused on what he described as practical solutions rather than ideological debates.
