TIRANA, Sept. 17 /ATA/ -[ Albania’s National Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances is opening its new artistic season with a tour of several Italian cities, its artistic director Sokol Marsi said Thursday.
The ensemble, which recently returned from Kosovo after taking part in a nationwide festival where it received an Award of Appreciation, will present songs and dances from different Albanian regions in Italy.
The programme aims to showcase Albanian folk heritage and culture to both the Albanian community and local audiences in Italy.
The ensemble will next travel to Edinburgh, Scotland, where it will present its programme for the first time.
For Albania’s November celebrations, the ensemble is also preparing a stage production of the traditional Albanian legend “Konstandini and Doruntina”, which organisers describe as a world-premiere ethno-musical.
