TIRANA, September 15 /ATA/ – Minister of Environment Sofjan Jaupaj participated in the Western Balkan EU integration meeting in Skopje.
In a video message shared on social media, Minister Jaupaj stated that the meeting focused on the new European Union budget for the 2028–2034 period.
Jaupaj noted that at the meeting there are being discussed issues related to the European integration process alongside European Commission representatives, with special attention paid to the environment.
“The new European Union budget must also provide for appropriate mechanisms for countries set to join the European Union—such as Montenegro and Albania, which are leading the process today,” Jaupaj said.
“This discussion will be invaluable regarding how we begin to utilize European Union funds—as well as funds stemming from the Union and membership—to implement the projects and infrastructure necessary to meet all the required standards,” he added. The regional meeting aims to contribute to accelerating reforms and aligning Western Balkan countries with European Union standards, with environmental issues constituting one of the key areas of the integration process. /p.s./
