Successful surgery performed on 16-month-old child with arthrogryposis at Trauma Hospital

TIRANA, Aug. 25 /ATA/ – Doctors at Albania’s University Trauma Hospital have successfully performed a complex orthopaedic procedure on a 16-month-old child born with arthrogryposis, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare said on Tuesday.

The Ministry said the child had faced health difficulties from the first days of life, including about two months in an incubator and intensive care.

Treatment later continued through a specialised, multidisciplinary approach, culminating in the successful orthopaedic surgery.

The child is now in good condition and remains under medical supervision, the Ministry said.

The procedure was carried out by a multidisciplinary team led by an orthopaedic surgeon and including two specialist doctors, anaesthetist, surgical technician and operating-room nurses.

The Ministry praised the team’s professionalism and commitment in carrying out the procedure successfully.
