August postcard from Sarandë, a cruise tourism hub

TIRANA, Aug 22 /ATA/ August remains the busiest month of the tourist season in Sarandë, as increasing numbers of Albanian and foreign visitors arrive in the coastal city.

The Port of Sarandë has welcomed dozens of cruise ships this year, further establishing the city as a key tourist destination, particularly for international visitors.

Prime Minister Edi Rama on Saturday shared footage of Sarandë Bay, which welcomed another cruise ship in August. “An August postcard from Sarandë,” Rama wrote alongside the images.

Sarandë’s 2026 cruise season kicked off in March with the arrival of the Sapphire Princess, which brought thousands of foreign tourists.

Tourists arrive from around the world, including the United States, Italy, Germany and France, to visit historic and natural attractions such as Butrint, the Blue Eye and Lëkurësi Castle, as well as nearby cities including Gjirokastër, Përmet and Tepelenë.

The combination of coastline, historical heritage and natural landscapes places Sarandë among Albania’s leading summer tourism destinations.
