TIRANA, Aug 19 /ATA/ The “Raspberry Day” brought together farmers, experts and partners from Albania and Kosovo yesterday in Maqellarë, Dibër, in an event aimed at promoting raspberry cultivation, sharing experiences and showcasing best practices for the development of the sector.
The event focused on the potential of raspberry cultivation for Albanian farmers, particularly in rural areas where climate and soil conditions offer favourable opportunities for growing berries.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Andis Salla shared footage from the event on social media.
Salla said that “for the first time, the ‘Raspberry of Albania’ association has been registered and certified, marking an important step towards organising farmers and further developing the sector.”
The association is expected to provide farmers with a more structured and sustainable platform for cooperation, facilitating the exchange of information, experience and technical expertise among producers.
Raspberries, part of the berry fruit group, are attracting increasing interest due to their nutritional benefits and growing market demand.
Beyond fresh consumption, raspberries can also be used in a range of processed food products, creating opportunities to add value to production and diversify farmers’ income sources.
