TIRANA, Aug. 14 /ATA/ – From greenhouses in Samaticë, southern Albania region of Berat, to European markets, Mariglen Ziu has spent the past 16 years cultivating vegetables and building an agricultural business focused increasingly on exports.
Ziu grows a range of vegetables in 0.8 hectares of greenhouses, with his produce reaching markets beyond Albania, including Italy, Croatia and Romania.
What began years ago has developed into a sustainable farming operation, with greenhouse production and an export-oriented model creating opportunities for further expansion.
Ziu recently applied for a 10% tax-invoice reimbursement scheme for farmers, which he said would provide practical support in covering costs and continuing investment in his agricultural business.
The Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development (AZHBR) describes the 10% reimbursement as additional support for farmers aimed at reducing production costs and creating greater room for business development.
Ziu’s farm is another example of the potential of Albania’s agricultural sector to supply the domestic market while competing in European markets through exports.
