TIRANA, Aug 11 /ATA/ Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari highlighted technology as one of the key tools for improving road safety and preventing accidents, as the number of tourists and vehicle traffic in the country continues to rise.
In a statement, Lamallari stressed the importance of using radars, drones and smart vehicles to monitor traffic and detect violations.
“After citizens, the police’s strongest ally is technology,” the minister said.
According to him, these tools enable authorities to detect speeding, traffic violations and behaviour that puts people’s lives at risk.
Lamallari also said the implementation of the “Smart City” project is expected to significantly improve road safety and public safety more broadly.
“Radars, drones and smart vehicles provide an unerring and constant eye on traffic,” Lamallari said, stressing that technology will play an increasingly important role in ensuring road safety.
