Five wildfires remain active across Albania

TIRANA, Aug. 11 /ATA/ – Albanian authorities reported 25 wildfire outbreaks across the country over the past 24 hours, most of which have been brought under control.

According to the Ministry of Defence, five fire hotspots remain active, while one additional area continues to be monitored.

Firefighting operations involved 37 fire engines and 365 operational personnel, supported by 158 members of the Armed Forces, 10 vehicles and four Air Force helicopters.

In central Albania municipality of Krujë, operations continue in the Abaze and Krastë-Halil areas. Aerial interventions have helped contain the spread of the fire, and no threat to nearby communities has been reported.

In Mallakastër, southern Albania, fires in Riban, Ngraçan, Panahor and Çyçen have been extinguished. However, a fire has reactivated deep within a forested area in Drenie, Patos, where emergency crews remain engaged.

In Tirana, firefighters continue efforts to bring a blaze in Priskë e Madhe under control. Authorities said the fire does not pose a risk to residential areas.

Operations are also ongoing on Mount Nemërçka in Përmet, near the Greek border. The fire is burning in a remote high-altitude area and is not threatening populated zones.

Meanwhile, fires in Cikallesh, Vilëz, Kallmet i Vogël and Goraj-Budishë have been fully extinguished, while the Dajti area remains under observation.

The National Civil Protection Agency and local emergency services remain on alert and continue coordinating response efforts until all active fire hotspots are fully contained.
