TIRANA, Aug. 7 /ATA/ – Citizens gathered again in Tirana’s Skanderbeg Square on Friday for the 69th protest against a planned tourism investment project in the Zvërnec area.
Following the gathering, protesters marched along the main boulevard toward the Prime Minister’s Office, opposing the project and raising broader concerns over policies related to protected areas and strategic investments.
During the protest, a pensioner highlighted economic difficulties faced by elderly citizens, calling for the establishment of a minimum living standard to become a key public priority.
He urged pensioners to join the demonstrations, arguing that greater attention should be given to improving their living conditions.
“Pensioners should all come forward and not stay at home. We need to raise our voices together,” he said.
An activist said protesters have grown in number and determination, pledging to continue their campaign until the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government.
According to the activist, the 69-day protest movement has challenged what he described as the government’s “propaganda machinery,” while rejecting what he called attempts to intimidate participants.
He said the protesters’ main demand remains the resignation of the prime minister and the government.
“If speaking out against corruption is considered a language of hatred, we will not stop speaking out against corruption. If demanding the resignation of what we consider the most corrupt government in Europe is seen as a language of hatred, we will continue until this government leaves,” he said.
