TIRANA, July 2 /ATA/ – Citizens gathered in central Tirana on Thursday for a 33rd consecutive day of protests, renewing calls for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and broader political reforms.
Protesters initially assembled in Skanderbeg Square before marching along the “Martyrs of the Nation” Boulevard toward parliament, holding banners demanding changes to the electoral law and the repeal of amendments to legislation on protected areas.
Demonstrators also called for the removal of what they described as the country’s “old political class” and opposed a planned investment project in the Zvërnec area.
“This is a civic protest. I am not paid by anyone and I am defending my rights,” one participant said.
The protests have continued daily since they began earlier this month, with organisers maintaining pressure on the government over environmental and political concerns.
