Rama on EP resolution: Amendment has no bearing on Zvërnec

TIRANA, June 18 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that, “The review of the protected areas legislation forms an integral part of the European Union negotiation agenda”.

In response to the debates surrounding the European Parliament’s resolution on Albania, a closer look at the controversy over the Zvërnec resort—particularly the rejected amendment proposed by left-wing MEPs, Rama stressed that, “Some demagogues who thought it was free for all are telling the protesters that the recent European Parliament resolution marks their debut triumph”.

“But, we don’t need protests to remind us of our duty. Environmental protection and sustainable development in sensitive areas remain an unquestionable priority for my administration and the Socialist Party”, Rama underlined.

PM Rama stated further on that, “People celebrating this “victory” are relying on misinformation, as that specific amendment was defeated. The actual approved amendment concerns the Nartë-Vjosë area, where the government and MEPs see eye-to-eye, and has nothing to do with Zvërnec or the Pishë Poro-Nartë landscape. These aren’t just semantics; they are the facts found in official technical records, not on social media.”

Rama stated that MEPs will be informed that the protected areas law is part of the negotiation agenda. It will undergo a joint analytical review with the Commission to pinpoint and revise any points that fail to meet EU criteria.

“Redefining ‘victory’ is a vital reality check for leaders intoxicated by flattery and digital mobs. It helps them face the inevitable comedown and prepare for an awakening, sparing them the agony of imaginary revolutions crashing into reality”, concluded Rama. /k.s/a.f/p.s./
