2026 National Scheme offers financial support for fish restocking

TIRANA, June 8  /ATA/ The restocking of inland aquatic ecosystems with fish fry is supported this year under the 2026 National Scheme, a policy instrument aimed at advancing the development of the aquaculture sector.

The Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development has stated that eligible entities may access financial support for the procurement of fish fry intended for the repopulation of lakes, reservoirs, and other inland freshwater systems.

Under the scheme, financing covers 50% of the value of tax invoices submitted by applicants, while the maximum level of support amounts to up to ALL 200,000 per beneficiary entity.

This measure is considered crucial for the conservation and enhancement of fish stocks in inland waters, contributing to ecological balance and increasing the productive capacity of the sector. The financial support also aims to stimulate investment in aquaculture activities and to create improved economic opportunities for operators active in this field.

The Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development (AZHBR) has announced that the application process is currently open and encourages interested parties to take advantage of this support opportunity. For additional information and technical assistance during the application process, farmers and other eligible entities may contact Agropika offices or the regional agricultural extension offices throughout the country.

The 2026 National Scheme constitutes one of the principal instruments for supporting agriculture and rural development, financing nine support measures and three investment schemes aimed at increasing production, enhancing sectoral competitiveness, and promoting the sustainable use of natural resources.
