FM Hoxha, Estonian counterpart discuss closer cooperation on innovation and digital governance

TIRANA, May 22 /ATA/ – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, met Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna on the sidelines of the informal NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Helsingborg, Sweden, to discuss EU integration, digital innovation and regional security cooperation.

In a post on social media on Friday, Hoxha said the talks followed Prime Minister Edi Rama’s recent visit to Tallinn and focused on Albania’s European Union accession path, strong bilateral relations and the shared readiness to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Hoxha said particular attention was given to Estonia’s experience in digitalisation, innovation and the transformation of public services and governance.

He said Albania was keen to deepen cooperation and benefit from Estonia’s expertise to further strengthen efficiency, transparency and citizen-oriented public administration.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional security and joint efforts as NATO allies to enhance resilience and coordination in addressing shared challenges, including in cyberspace.

Hoxha noted that discussions included cooperation through NATO’s Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), which Albania recently joined.

The informal meeting of NATO foreign ministers forms part of preparations for the Alliance’s next summit, scheduled to take place in Ankara on July 7-8, 2026.
