TIRANA, May 20/ATA/ Minister of Internal Affairs Besfort Lamallari highlighted today the clampdown on illegal development, imposing 67 administrative penalties in just one month.
During a press conference, Lamallari said that the strategy focuses on intensifying territorial control, with administrative penalties issued this month totaling 122 million lekë.
Lamallari also pointed at Saranda police crackdown that exposed a severe failure in law enforcement, where officers actively enabled criminal activity through willful negligence.
“Since protecting our territory is a matter of national security, we demand a rigorous investigation into the institutional failures of all officials who turned a blind eye”, said Lamallari.
The minister stated that the National Inspectorate of Territory Protection is taking aggressive action against illegal construction and environmental damage. This includes continuous field patrols, strict monitoring of vulnerable areas, and close collaboration with other state agencies.
According to him, “We are utilizing advanced drones and cameras to proactively stop and identify environmental violations. Fines will be strictly enforced and escalated to criminal charges, proving that protecting our territory is our highest priority. Anyone who betrays their uniform will face the full force of the law”. /p.s./
