UK donates advanced technology equipment to Albanian State Police

TIRANA, May 19 /ATA/ – The UK Home Office International Operations (HOIO) on Monday donated advanced technological equipment to support the operational capacities of the Albanian State Police.

The handover ceremony, held at the General Directorate of the State Police in Tirana a day ago, was attended by State Police Director General Skënder Hita, HOIO Regional Manager Tara Moore, HOIO International Liaison Manager Stephen Law, senior police officials and representatives of the beneficiary structures.

In his remarks, Hita expressed gratitude for the continued support provided by the British partners, describing cooperation between the Albanian State Police and UK law enforcement agencies as a consolidated partnership that has delivered concrete results in the fight against organised crime, cross-border crime and other high-risk criminal phenomena.

He said investments and donations of this kind significantly strengthen the operational and professional capacities of the State Police by improving risk identification, advancing border control procedures, increasing the efficiency of police analysis and investigations, and enhancing efforts against organised and cross-border crime in the interest of public security.

For her part, Tara Moore reaffirmed the commitment of British agencies to continue supporting the Albanian State Police through technical and logistical assistance, as well as through the exchange of professional best practices aimed at strengthening law enforcement capacities and operational effectiveness.

The donation, valued at around 200,000 pounds, includes modern technological equipment that will be used by the Criminal Police Department, the Border and Migration Department, and the Passenger Information Unit.
