U.S. Founding Fathers exhibition opens in Tirana during American Week

TIRANA, May 4 /ATA/ – An exhibition dedicated to the Founding Fathers of the United States opened on Monday at the “Sotir Kolea” National Library in Tirana, as part of American Week events.

The exhibition features portraits and biographies of 13 signatories of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, one representing each of the original 13 colonies.

Speaking at the opening, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Nancy VanHorn noted that the United States is marking the 250th anniversary of its independence this year.

“During this week, we have invited our Albanian friends and partners to join us in honouring American values and celebrating achievements in culture and sport,” she said. “As you explore the exhibition, you will learn more about the history of the men who had a vision for our great country.”

She highlighted figures such as Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, describing them as individuals of different backgrounds and education who shared a common goal of liberty.

The exhibition also highlights key events leading to the founding of the United States.

“We have also chosen to highlight cities such as Boston, New York and Philadelphia, where many proud Albanian-Americans live today,” VanHorn said, inviting visitors to experience the exhibition through virtual reality.
