TIRANA, March 17 /ATA/ Minister of Defense Ermal Nufi emphasized that the resolution passed today in Parliament is not a formal act, but rather a statement on the country’s national security.
In a social media post after the parliamentary vote, Nufi remarked that the Iranian regime has employed terrorist tools and hybrid strategies to expand its influence, including in our region.
“In 2022, Albania faced this threat head-on through a cyberattack against state institutions, and the recent attack on Parliament represents an unacceptable act against a NATO member state,” Nufi remarked, highlighting that the parliament has not merely voted for a text—it has voted for the nation’s security, alliances, and values.
The Parliament today approved the draft resolution proposed by the Socialist Party, declaring the Islamic Republic of Iran a state sponsor of terrorism and a state that uses terrorist means, as well as designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.
The draft resolution was adopted by Parliament with 79 votes in favor and 1 abstention.
