TIRANA, March 6 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Friday that recycling waste presents opportunities to create new economic value, highlighting the growing adoption of the “Circulate and Create” philosophy among Albanian businesses.
Rama shared on social media the example of Green Recycling, which processes around 600 tonnes of paper and cardboard per month, operating under certified European standards.
The company also collects about 60 tonnes of used cooking oil monthly from restaurants, which is converted into biofuel in European refineries.
“Automated and fiscalised processes for managing recyclable waste show that the circular economy works when waste circulates and generates new value,” Rama said.
Arbër Xhihani, representative of Green Recycling, noted that the company uses modern, certified European technologies and holds licences for the transfer of recyclable and urban waste. He said all recyclable waste is exported through contracts with end operators abroad, helping improve environmental quality and waste management in Albania.
Xhihani added that automated weighing and fiscal reporting systems ensure transparency, linking vehicle scales with storage facilities and invoicing systems, with the same process applied to partner companies and registered individuals.
