Enforcement action against unlawful constructions in public spaces is ongoing

TIRANA, March 6 /ATA/ Nationwide efforts are underway to clear public spaces of unauthoriized constructions, an initiative that precedes the implementation of the ‘Urban Renaissance 2.0’ program.”

Prime Minister Edi Rama on Friday shared on social media images of on-site interventions carried out by the National Inspectorate for the Protection of Territory.

We continue everywhere,’ wrote Rama, as he posted images of the demolition of unauthorized constructions.

The initiative to clear public spaces of unauthorized constructions aims to restore law enforcement to the territory while fostering development for local communities.

Launched in July 2025, the initiative has been conceived as a permanent intervention and remains a priority for both local and central government authorities.

“Numerous violations are reported directly by citizens through the dedicated portal ‘My Public Space,’ where to date a total of 19,394 cases have been filed. Of these, 14,970 cases have been resolved, while 4,424 remain under review.”

The Albanian Government has intensified measures to strengthen territorial control, safeguard public spaces, ensure the proper implementation of construction permits, and penalize builders who violate them.
