Albania has 98 active social services, 14 new programs set for 2026

TIRANA, Feb 15 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that the 2026 National Social Fund ensures the continued provision of services supporting citizens’ welfare.

At the start of the podcast “Flasim”, Rama said that Albania has increased from 14 social services in 2019 to 98 active services today, transforming the social service system into a comprehensive social protection network across the country.

“There are 65,000 individuals covered by this organized social support network—not just through funding, but through a structured system of services, now extended to the municipal level. The budget of this fund has increased sixfold since the launch of this reform and is 17% higher this year as compared to previous one,” Rama said.

According to him, “this demonstrates consolidation and a clear political priority for those most in need.”

The Prime Minister also announced that in 2026, 14 new services will be funded for children and mothers in need, persons with disabilities, the elderly, women and girls who are victims of violence, as well as children without parental care.

“Twelve of these services will be provided in Durrës, Përrenjas, Kurbin, Skrapar, Himarë, Kavajë, Vorë, Korçë, Mat, Patos, Cërrik, and Kamëz. At the regional level, two new emergency services and a children’s counseling hotline will also be introduced,” he added.
