TIRANA, Feb 12 /ATA/ – The “Tourism Fair Albania” (TFA26), which opened Wednesday in Tirana, focuses on events that bring together public institutions, the private sector, and international partners to strengthen cooperation and promote sustainable tourism development.
Speaking at the event, Minister Blendi Gonxhja encouraged visitors to explore Albania’s tourism offerings through the fair, which serves as a key platform for collaboration supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment (MTKS).
“At a time when Albania is establishing itself as a year-round tourist destination, welcoming over 12 million foreign visitors in 2025, initiatives like this play a crucial role in promoting the country’s tourism offerings, enhancing the national brand, and boosting competitiveness internationally,” Gonxhja said.
He invited tourism professionals, partners, and all interested visitors to discover Albania’s main destinations, cultural and historical assets, and its potential for sustainable tourism development.
One of the fair’s highlighted pavilions is hosted by the Municipality of Elbasan, showcasing the city’s rich historical, cultural, and natural heritage.
In his remarks, Mayor Gledian Llatja said Elbasan proudly presents its standout attractions, from its iconic castle reflecting centuries of civilization, characteristic streets, and educational and artisanal heritage, to the stunning landscapes of Funar, Gjinari, and Shpat.
“Hospitality and a rich culinary tradition make Elbasan a beloved destination for both domestic and international visitors,” the mayor added. He also noted that municipal investments in revitalizing the historic center, creating green spaces, promoting nature-based tourism, and supporting local enterprises are enhancing the city’s appeal.
As part of the Municipal Forum, local representatives will share experiences on year-round tourism, strategic marketing, and ways to make Albania an even more competitive destination.
