TIRANA, Feb 5 /ATA/ The Chairman of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, the Chairman of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, the Chair of the Human Rights Committee, Jorida Tabaku, and Member of Parliament Albana Vokshi, during their visit to Washington, held a meeting with Congressman Michael R. Turner, who has long served as the head of the Intelligence Committee in Congress.
Opposition Members of Parliament underscored the importance of strengthening the partnership between Albania and the United States.
“Albania is honoured to count the United States as a strategic ally, and it is crucial that we remain fully committed to President Trump’s priority of an uncompromising fight against organised crime, drug cartels, and their collaborators,” wrote Bardhi.
Moreover, the opposition Members of Parliament shared with Congressman Turner their concerns about this strategic priority and the potential consequences, as they see it, of co-governance with organised crime in the context of Albania’s strategic alliance with the United States.
