TIRANA, January 28 /ATA/ Minister of State for Local Government Ervin Demo stated today that during 2025, the municipalities have received around 4 million euros in the framework of the performance grant.
The performance grant is aimed to provide an incentive for participating municipalities to improve their performance in key performance areas.
During a press conference, Demo said that the performance grant was allocated for the first time at the local level last year.
“The performance grant is a subvention raised 50% by our partners, by donors such as the Swiss embassy and also by the state budget. There are around 4 million euros that have been allocated to municipalities in measuring clear indicators, generally regulatory in terms of their functioning,” Demo said.
Demo emphasized that in 2026, the concept of the performance grant will be developed.
“We believe that municipalities that perform better, the municipalities that provide better services for citizens, should have the opportunity to be financed. Therefore, the performance grant will become a motivating instrument for municipalities themselves to provide better services for their citizens. This will be a very important year as we will move to specific measurements of the services provided in the municipality”, Demo added. /m.m/j.p/p.s./
