TIRANA, Jan 23 /ATA/ – Albania’s main seaport of Durres processed 3.8 million tonnes of cargo in 2025, up 6.3% from the previous year, confirming its role as the country’s primary maritime trade hub and a key contributor to the national economy, port authorities said on Friday.
The Durres Port Authority said that cargo handled across the port’s four terminals included 2.8 million tonnes of imports and 1 million tonnes of exports.
The cargo structure reflected the domestic economy’s demand for steady supplies of raw materials and consumer goods, as well as the port’s role in supporting export activity, Port Authority said.
In terms of maritime traffic, a total of 1,506 vessels were handled during the year, indicating an intensification of port activity and growing confidence among shipping operators and maritime lines.
The data show that the port maintained stable operations while managing significant volumes of cargo and vessel movements, ensuring continuity of port services.
Port officials said the 2025 performance provides a solid basis for further development, including improved operational efficiency, modernisation of processes and strengthening Durres’ role in regional and international maritime trade.
