TIRANA, Jan 22 /ATA/ – National Food Authority (AKU) said on Thursday it has withdrawn from the market the infant formula product “NAN 1 OPTIPRO” after the presence of the bacterium cereulide was detected.
Following inspections and traceability checks, AKU announced it had blocked all available stocks of the product, including units returned from the market, pending destruction or return to the country of origin.
According to the Albanian importer, the recall of the “NAN 1 OPTIPRO” 800-gram infant formula batch was initiated by manufacturer Nestle as a precautionary measure after the highly toxic bacterium was detected at the production facility in the Netherlands. AKU said it has blocked the entire quantity of the affected product.
AKU also said on-site inspections confirmed that consumer notices have been posted in supermarkets where the product had been sold.
