Berisha: SPAK’s operation against Call Center frauds was compromised

TIRANA, Jan 19 /ATA/ The DP chairman Sali Berisha appeared today at the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) to comply with the ‘mandatory appearance’ measure imposed on him by the Appeals Court for Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO), in connection with the privatization case of the former ‘Partizani’ sports complex.
Berisha arrived at the doors of SPAK around 10:00 AM today, where he told reporters outside the prosecutor’s office that SPAK’s operation against a call centre in Tirana had been compromised.
“‘This market is among the most criminal in the Balkans, Europe, and the world. Two hundred businesses are operating around the clock, defrauding foreign citizens. They deceive people, and the network that was raided, according to the investigation by its agents, was siphoning off at least 30 million euros every month through fraud,’ Berisha stated.”
Berisha claimed that this criminal operation is fully under the control of the narcotics police. ‘Just like in the past, a 300-euro fee was paid for each healthy cannabis plant, which generated a profit of 1,000 euros. Every center, for every computer, paid bribes to police officers who closed their eyes to the illegal activities, allowing foreign citizens to be scammed and robbed,’ Berisha stated.”

“In these centers, a massive scam is being carried out against unfortunate citizens who are misled, with promises such as ‘pay this amount and you’ll receive this much, you lost on the stock exchange, we’ll recover this for you,’ he said.

The leader of the Democratic Party added that agents from the BKH have provided all the information to the investigating team, as they possess photos, videos, and documents detailing the operations.
“When they arrived, they found the room empty, as all the computers had been removed, which reinforces the statement from the anti-mafia prosecutor in Naples, who argues that Albania is worse than narco-states. According to him, it’s worse because everything is compromised, making it impossible to finish an investigation,” Berisha said.
