TIRANA, January 16 /ATA/ Leader of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha reacted today after the Constitutional Court appreciated the house arrest measure against him as excessive.
Berisha described the decision as politically-motivated by orders and it seems like justice has been done. But, as a matter of fact, with this decision, the Constitutional Court paves the way of support for Belinda Balluku and other ministers, who may be convicted of corruption.
According to him, the Constitutional Court took 8 months to make a decision, at a time when the requests of ministers are reviewed for two weeks. Berisha reminded that the legal deadline is 3 months.
The leader of the DP added that there is no new evidence against him and that his name is not mentioned in any of the documents submitted by SPAK.
“The current measures of obligation to appear and not to leave the country were executed in complete abuse of the law by SPAK because there was no final decision and SPAK applied them without a final decision. This court has nothing to do with the law, but with political orders,” Berisha said.
Berisha also raised the question of whether it makes sense that, “On the one hand, the house-arrest decision is declared unconstitutional, but on the other hand it is not repealed.”
“The Constitutional Court declared Irena Gjoka’s decision unconstitutional, but it is not repealing it. Look at what charlatans! But, that decision has produced consequences and its consequences are real,” said Berisha. /p.s./
