TIRANA, January 14/ATA/ Due to rising temperatures, avalanches are once again occurring near the panoramic tunnels at Qafë Thore, blocking the road.
Mayor of Shkodër Benet Beci appreciated the situation as dangerous for intervention while the mass of snow on the mountain slope has not yet stabilized.
Therefore, Beci said, there has been ordered the cessation of any efforts to clear the snow created by the avalanches.
“Due to the extreme hazard, traffic in Qafë Thore for all types of vehicles has ceased, until further notice,” he said.
Beci emphasized that the relevant structures are continuing to monitor the situation and will inform citizens of any further developments.
Shkodër regional prefecture also said that the movement of vehicles along Qafë Thore remains suspended for all types of vehicles. Traffic is suspended until conditions stabilize and safety is guaranteed.
According to him, as temperatures drop overnight, the technical teams will reassess the situation and, if conditions allow, will intervene to clear the blocked road.
In the meantime, the citizens are urged to avoid movement on this and abide by the instructions of the local authorities to guarantee safety. /j.p/p.s./
