Prishtina to establish ‘House of the Arbëresh’

TIRANA, Jan 13 /ATA/ – Prishtina Mayor Përparim Rama said on Tuesday that the Kosovo capital will establish a “House of the Arbëresh,” dedicated to preserving the heritage of the Arbëresh community.

“The Arbëresh are not merely a memory of the past, but an inspiration for the future – a rare example of devotion to language, roots and dignity,” Rama said, adding that they deserve a space in Prishtina where their history is not forgotten but kept alive.

Prishtina Mayor made the remarks during a meeting with Geri Ballo, head of the “Made in Arbëria” project, and Arbëresh activist Lucia Martino, who proposed the creation of the centre as a place where Arbëresh language and culture can be promoted for the people of Kosovo and visitors.

Accepting the proposal, Rama said the House would bring together Arbëresh art, culture, spiritual values and gastronomy.

“The capital considers it both an honour and a responsibility to serve as a home for this noble heritage,” the Mayor said.
