TIRANA, Dec 23 /ATA/ The New National Theatre project has now advanced into its construction phase, with work running at full pace following the laying of the foundations.
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja explained that after the completion of the complex underground works, the project has entered the stage of construction, gradually taking shape as an iconic building for art and culture.
He noted that the New National Theatre, designed by Bjarke Ingels and Danish studio BIG, is taking shape as one of Europe’s most iconic post–World War II theatres.
The new National Theatre is shaping up on the site of the former building. According to the project, the structure is divided into two sections: one dedicated to actors and administration, and another designed for the public.
The New National Theatre will provide optimal conditions for both performers and audiences, and is expected to rank among the finest venues of its kind in Europe.
Day by day, the new theatre is rising as an architectural work that will transform the capital into a European destination for contemporary art and architecture.
