Rama: EU should honour agreement to conclude negotiations by 2027

TIRANA, Dec 21 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that during the EU–Western Balkans summit he called on the European Commission and all member state leaders present at the European Council to honour the agreement to finalize negotiations by 2027.

At the opening of the podcast Flasim – Episode 11, Season 5, Prime Minister Rama stated that the EU–Western Balkans summit held in Brussels was yet another high‑level meeting point between Albania and Europe.

Rama stressed that at the summit ‘we took stock of our region’s journey toward the EU, and Albania shone in Europe’s view—thanks to the hard work and the milestones we’ve reached here at home.

Rama highlighted several points during the Brussels summit. He stated: ‘The opening of all negotiation chapters represents a major encouragement for us, but I reiterated the necessity for the European Commission and, of course, all member state leaders present at the European Council to honour the agreement to conclude negotiations by 2027, emphasizing that Albania’s accession, along with that of other Balkan countries, must be politically accelerated.”

Rama underlined that Albania will move ahead with its modernization reforms and persist unwaveringly in its efforts against corruption and organized crime—not for Brussels, but for our own strategic national interest.
