TIRANA, Dec 16 /ATA/ – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, met Greek President Konstantinos Tassoulas in Athens at the start of her official visit to Greece on Tuesday.
Foreign Minister Spiropali said Albania strongly believes that under Greece’s leadership of the EU Council Presidency, the Western Balkans will remain a priority on the European agenda.
“We view enlargement as a strategic investment in stability, opportunity and democratic consolidation, particularly as Greece prepares for its EU Council Presidency in 2027,” she said.
Spiropali added that Albanian-Greek relations, built on strong human ties, should continue to develop positively, anchored in shared strategic interests, close NATO partnership, and common European perspective.
Greece’s President Tassoulas congratulated Spiropali on Albania’s reforms, which he said advance the country’s development and bring it closer to its EU integration goals.
Spiropali also highlighted economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, noting Greece’s role as Albania’s main economic partner.
