TIRANA, Dec 14 /ATA/ – Albania this week joined Jordan in co-chairing a high-level roundtable of Balkan religious leaders as part of the Aqaba Process, Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Sunday.
The meeting, held in Jordan, took place under the auspices of King Abdullah II, who hosted Rama during the event.
Speaking on his podcast “Flasim” (Let’s Talk), the government head described King Abdullah II as a globally respected monarch, a valued friend of the Albanian people and a close personal friend.
“A decade ago, we jointly initiated the Aqaba Process – a meaningful initiative led and focused on confronting terrorism and violent extremism, under the special stewardship of His Majesty,” Rama said. “In the December round of meetings, Albania stood alongside Jordan in co-chairing the major round-table of Balkan religious community leaders.”
Rama said leaders of Albania’s religious communities also took part in the discussions, adding that the initiative would be repeated and expanded next year in Albania.
“We will carry this forward and broaden it next year here in Albania, together with His Majesty,” the prime minister said.
