Rama: A much stronger emphasis on environment and forests for being a thorny part in EU accession negotiations

TIRANA, December 5 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that the focus on the environment and forests coincides with the historical moment of the effort for our country’s membership in the European family.

During the activity on nature, where there were attending Minister of Environment Sofjan Jaupaj, Director of the National Agency of Protected Areas Daniel Pirushi, foreign partners and environmentalists, Rama said that, “The focus on the environment, on forests and their good management, the focus on Protected Areas, on the strengthening of a new sustainable economy based on nature will be several times greater than so far”.

“This is also because the challenge related to those parts of the negotiations that affect the environment is perhaps the thorniest because there are high requirements and standards. And beyond the extraordinary improvements that we have made in this aspect, we are far behind from where we want to reach in a very short time”, said Rama.

PM Rama said that this as a common cause, while emphasizing that new ways must be found to open more communication channels, to build more bridges with the community of people who have a special dedication to the environment. /e.i/j.p/p.s./
