Snow-capped Albanian Alps offer stunning early-winter scenes

TIRANA, Dec 4 /ATA/ – The Albanian Alps, a year-round destination known for their rugged landscapes, took on their winter appearance this week as early December snowfall blanketed the range.

Prime Minister Edi Rama on Thursday posted images of the snow-covered mountains on social media, encouraging mountaineering and outdoor enthusiasts to visit the area.

The Albania Alps National Park is regarded as one of the country’s most distinctive mountain regions, marked by sharp contrasts in terrain, deep river valleys, gorges and high passes.

The area includes rivers such as the Shala, Valbona, Curraj, Cemi and Moraca, and glacial lakes including Peja, Jezerca, Dobërdol and Sylbica.

Peaks such as Radohima, Maja e Hekurave, Maja e Arapit and Shkëlzen are noted for panoramic views that attract hikers and adventure tourists.
