PRISHTINA, November 26/ATA/ Kosovo Self-Determination Movement (LVV) has nominated again the party leader Albin Kurti as a candidate for Prime Minister of Kosovo if the party wins in the upcoming December 28 snap vote.
Kurti received the confidence of all party delegates during a meeting of the Leading Board of the party in Pristina.
Speaking after the nomination, Kurti said that, “I feel honored that you once again trusted me as your candidate for prime minister.”
He also pointed at the other parties in the country for being unwilling to cooperate with his party after the regular elections on February 9.
“We are facing snap elections against our will, but the other parties have refused any cooperation with us. First, they rejected me and then Glauk Konjufca,” Kurti said.
The LVV won the February 9 elections, but 48 seats in the Assembly were insufficient and Kurti failed to find a coalition partner, even to reach the minimum required of 61 seats for a minority government.
The Democratic League of Kosovo, which days earlier nominated its leader Lumir Abdixhiku for prime minister in next month’s elections, had offers from Kurti to co-govern, but it repeatedly rejected them.
After the Assembly failed to vote on a new government, President Vjosa Osmani dissolved the Assembly last week and called early elections for December 28.
As a result of the lack of cooperation and political compromises, Kosovo has been under an acting government since February this year.
The country now heads to fresh elections having failed to approve international agreements worth around 200 million euros, next year’s state budget, the budget for Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), and the budget for three municipalities – Prishtina, Gjilan and Zubin Potok. /REL/p.s./
