FM Spiropali: EU Growth Plan brings Western Balkans closer to the bloc faster

TIRANA, Nov 21 /ATA/ – Tirana on Friday hosted the EU’s Western Balkans Growth Plan Summit, turning the Albanian capital into a focal point of European developments.

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Elisa Spiropali said in a social media post that the Growth Plan, a new EU financial mechanism, is a key instrument for accelerating the region’s alignment with European standards and the single market.

According to her, the EU Growth Plan will deliver tangible benefits for citizens, including lower roaming costs, faster travel due to improved infrastructure links, quicker border procedures for trade and economic exchanges, and expanded digital services.

“Tirana once again became the centre of Europe as host of today’s Growth Plan Summit,” FM Spiropali wrote, calling the plan “the financial mechanism that brings the Western Balkans closer to the EU at the fastest pace,” with citizens expected to continue benefiting from lower communication costs, better connectivity, faster borders and more digitalised services.
