PM Rama: Ongoing work to clean drainage canals in Shkodër

TIRANA, Nov 18 /ATA/ – Efforts to prevent flooding are ongoing across the northern Albanian municipality of Shkodër, with continuous work underway to clean drainage canals.

Prime Minister Edi Rama took to the social media to share updates on social media on Tuesday, showcasing the interventions being carried out in the lowlands of Shkodër to clear the drainage canals.

“We are on full alert in anticipation of heavy rainfall. The work on the ground is proceeding without interruption, with Shkodër Municipality teams in maximum readiness, clearing and maintaining the canals to ensure the proper operation of the drainage system and to avert any potential problems,” Rama said.

All administrative units within Shkodër Municipality report that water levels in the primary and secondary canals remain low, and the drainage network is operating normally.

In addition, investments in canal maintenance, alongside continuous monitoring of the area, have ensured that recent heavy rains have not caused significant issues for residents.

Emergency response teams and municipal field crews remain on full standby, continuing to monitor conditions throughout the day, ready to respond swiftly should any concerns arise from the expected rainfall.
