Rama: Beginning from January 2026 in Albania there will be no wage below 500 euros

TIRANA, November 16/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that beginning from January 2026 in the Republic of Albania there will be no wage below 500 euros.

In his “Flasim” (Let’s Talk) podcast, in the “Weekly reflections” section, PM Rama said that, “The good news of pensions increase has been followed by another good news of wage increase, a considerable increase that extends to all sectors, but above all dictated by the promised increase in the minimum wage”.

“Beginning from January of the current year in the Republic of Albania there will be no wage below 500 euros. By then, we would have passed in the Parliament the 2026 budget that sanctions that step”, emphasized Rama.

Thus in 2026, the minimum wage will increase by 10 thousand lekë, reaching 50 thousand lekë from January 1, 2026, to be further increased to 70 thousand lekë by the end of the governance mandate.

The total cost of the wage increase and indexation is expected to be around 10 billion lekë and will include over 144 thousand employees at all levels of the administration. /k.s/r.e/p.s./
