Rama meets EU Ambassadors to discuss Albania’s Progress Report

TIRANA, Nov 12 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting on Wednesday with European Union ambassadors accredited to Albania.
The meeting focused on the annual dialogue following the release of the EU Progress Report on Albania.

“Today, with the ambassadors of the European Union member states, some of whom came from neighboring capitals, we held the annual dialogue following the release of the EU Progress Report on Albania,” Rama wrote in a social media post.
The 2025 Progress Report on Albania highlights the commitment of Albanian authorities to the negotiation process and their efforts to meet the requirements set by the EU.

In particular, the report commends Albania’s strong political commitment to the European integration process.

It emphasizes significant progress in fundamental reforms, notably the comprehensive justice reform, as well as meaningful achievements in the fight against corruption and organized crime, highlighting active international cooperation in these areas.
The report highlights the progress made in the EU accession negotiations since October 2024, noting an “unprecedented” pace that has led to the opening of 28 chapters within a single year.
In line with the joint work plans, the remaining five chapters are expected to be opened before the end of this year.
For the second consecutive year, the European Commission reiterated its support for Albania’s objective of completing accession negotiations by 2027, underscoring that the process is entirely merit-based.
The report also highlights the remaining challenges ahead, including the further strengthening of institutions, continued enhancement of transparency, and the consolidation of the rule of law.
