PRISHTINA, Nov 7 /ATA/ – The Regional Coordination and Advisory Group (RCAG) has begun its first official on-site visit to Prishtina as part of preparations for the 2030 Mediterranean Games, which Kosovo’s capital is set to host.
The visit marks the start of the project’s “Discover” phase, aimed at aligning work between international experts and the Prishtina 2030 Organizing Committee. Meetings focused on defining the Games’ vision and objectives, introducing key institutional stakeholders, and assessing Prishtina’s infrastructure and capacity to host sports events and related activities.
During the first two days, discussions have centred on governance structures, project management and timelines, sports programme planning, venue masterplanning, and resource and risk management.
RCAG participants include Rob Clarke, Egemen Onen, Erin McEvoy, Neil Carney and Dave Berry, while Ben Emerson is following the proceedings remotely. Representatives from the Prishtina 2030 Organising Committee and local institutions are also involved.
Kosovo Olympic Committee President Ismet Krasniqi told KosovaPress that the group will prepare an initial draft of the Games masterplan together with international experts, which will be presented later this month at the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (ICMG) General Assembly in Portugal.
“We are working intensively with the company and the ICMG commission to have the draft ready to present on November 28 – 29,” Krasniqi said, adding that the RCAG team would visit key sports venues in Prishtina, Mitrovica, the Student Centre, the Palace of Youth, and the Gërmia amphitheatre.
The visit will conclude with the preparation of a detailed work plan and next steps toward the following phase of organizing the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games.
