New national methodology launched for assessing cybersecurity risks

TIRANA, Nov 7 /ATA/ As part of efforts to strengthen cybersecurity and ensure national resilience against threats, the National Cybersecurity Authority (AKSK) organized the event “Cyber Risk Management and Assessment,” with the participation of approximately 300 representatives from critical and significant information infrastructures.

In his opening remarks, AKSK Director General Igli Tafa underscored that data and information constitute a state’s most powerful assets, stressing the importance of standardizing risk management approaches and promoting a shared culture of prevention and management

“Only by speaking a common language on risk can we transition from a reactive society to a preventive one. We must build trust, share information, and invest in standards and human capacities,” Tafa stated, also emphasizing that artificial intelligence is becoming a dual-use tool, capable of strengthening defense but also accelerating cyberattacks if not managed carefully and responsibly.
During the event, AKSK experts presented the National Methodology for Cybersecurity Risk Assessment, a tool that outlines the steps, information sources, and implementation process for measuring and managing risk at the institutional level.

The National Risk Assessment Report was presented, outlining the main findings and sectoral trends at the national level, and providing a comprehensive view of the challenges and priorities for strengthening digital security.

At the heart of this initiative is the need for coordinated, standardized, and collaborative action to build a safer, more resilient, and trustworthy digital space for everyone.
