Work is underway to clear up occupied public spaces

TIRANA, November 6 /ATA/ The clearing up of public spaces from illegal constructions is underway throughout the country, while so far, the citizens themselves have reported 15,239 cases on the “My Public Space” portal.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today in the social media images of these interventions in the capital, where there is work to clear up occupied sidewalks, roads and public spaces.

Conceived as a systematic intervention on the ground and not a temporary action, this initiative, which began its implementation in July, is continuing with priority throughout the country.

The Albanian government has tightened measures of control over the territory, protecting public spaces and seeing that the builders abide by construction permits and punish builders who violate them.

To combat the phenomenon of illegal construction, the new Penal Code foresees harsher penalties.

Another mechanism, which will be in the function of private entities, will be the new National Regulation, which will determine by law the spaces that businesses can use.

So far, among the 15,239 cases being reported on the “My Public Space” portal, 11,626 cases have already been resolved, while 3,613 others are currently under review process. /m.m/j.p/p.s./
