DP to continue its protests until government steps down

TIRANA, Nov 5 /ATA/ The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, announced today that the party will continue its protests until Prime Minister Edi Rama resigns.

“We will oppose Edi Rama vigorously. This situation requires courage and determination. One thing is for sure, if it were not for the protests led by Belind Këlliçi, for 46 weeks on end, braving all kinds of weather, Erion Veliaj would still be in office today,” Berisha stated.

Berisha added that, in his view, the efforts, courage, and sacrifices made by the Democratic Party have been among its most meaningful and effective actions.

He further stated, “Veliaj represented a major risk to the country in every respect. Through these efforts, we prevented one particularly harmful aspect of Edi Rama’s rule from taking hold.”

The Democratic Party leader rejected the notion that Belinda Balluku bears primary responsibility for the Llogara tunnel.

“We will protest until Edi Rama steps down. If Democrats fail to confront him, they lack both credibility and the moral authority to address voters,” Berisha stated.

The leader of the Democratic Party also addressed the parliamentary group’s position, confirming they will oppose the draft law on gender equality. “We will not, under any circumstances, vote for laws rejected by Albania’s religious communities,” he stated.

“We will do everything possible to ensure a structured discussion on this issue, which could never be resolved without a referendum. At the very least, it required a referendum. And I assure the Albanian people that no matter how many vote for it, once in govt., the Democratic Party will repeal that law,” Berisha said.
