President Begaj calls for action on social justice at UN World Social Summit in Doha

TIRANA, Nov 4 /ATA/ – Albanian President Bajram Begaj called for renewed global action on social justice and inclusive development during the second UN World Social Summit in Doha, Qatar.

The summit brought together world leaders to discuss measures to promote social development and reduce inequality. Begaj described the event as a “call to action for a new era of social justice and solidarity.”

Addressing the gathering, Begaj highlighted Albania’s efforts to align national social policies with international standards as the country progresses toward European Union membership. He cited reforms in healthcare, education, employment, and welfare aimed at improving access and equity, as well as the digitalization of public services to enhance transparency and accessibility.

Begaj also noted international recognition of Albania’s commitment to gender equality and social inclusion, stressing that ongoing challenges such as digital, demographic, and environmental transitions require adaptive and resilient social protection systems.

“Let us work together to make this summit a turning point for putting humanity at the center of development,” Begaj said.

The summit provides a platform for countries to reaffirm commitments to sustainable development, strengthen international partnerships, and promote social inclusion.
